Maja Koene Award Guidelines

Name of the Award Maja Koene Social Activist and Journalist Award
Award amount Rs.10,000/- (Ten thousand only)
Source for the award money CESCI Support Association, Switzerland and CESCI India
Date when the award will be given 14th October of every year (the day of Maja’s death anniversary)
Where and how the award will be given The campus of CESCI, Madurai or outside in a simple function by a well-known social worker.
The committee
The permanent committee The President, the Vice President and the Secretary of CESCI will be the permanent award committee and the Executive Committee of CESCI should authorize them to take all decision related to the award.
Expert Committee The permanent committee will constitute an Expert Committee (if necessary) consisting of three well-known social workers and this particular committee will be in office only for one year.  This committee will guide and help the permanent committee in selecting an individual or a group for the award.
The award The award can be given either to an individual or shared or groups who have done very important work in the fields of awareness building among the deprived sections towards removable of injustice and poverty.
The information about the award will be made available to organizations by circulating a folder.
The recommendations for the award should arrive in the office of CESCI with a passport size photo and necessary documents related their work

by the end of June every year, so that the committee will have sufficient time at its disposal to finalize the name/names

As soon as the name/names are finalized a communication will be sent directly to the party/parties concerned.  A press note will also be released for the media
The committee will expect the individual or the group representative to be present in the award giving ceremony and make a short presentation about their work.
The decision of the committee will be final and it cannot be challenged through any legal forum.
The award money can be used by the individual or the group according to their own plan.  The award committee will have no say in how to use the award mone y.
Along with a cash award of Rs.10,000/- a shawl and a citation will also be presented
The travel cost of the person receiving the award will be borne by CESCI and these who are coming to receive the award will be accommodated and looked after by CESCI center.
The expenses related to expert committee will be borne by CESCI
