About CESCI

The acronym CESCI stands for Center for Socio-Cultural interaction a not-for-profit organisation.

Campus

CESCI is architecturally designed to suit its unique training approach, developed so that living and learning together is a fundamental aspect of the residential programs. Participants and resource persons reside together on a campus designed to correspond to village life in India.

Our Focus

Among children, youth and women locally as well as state level. We recognize the absence of moral leadership in the society leading to various disasters.

The CESCI Support Association

The CESCI Support Association, which has charitable status, was founded in 1996 by Maja Koene with the aim of supporting the CESCI Centre in Madurai both financially and in other ways. The association also supports the social reform movement, Ekta Parishad and creates awareness for its work in Switzerland. In addition, the association promotes the transfer of specialist skills and socio-cultural exchange between the two countries.

To achieve these goals the association organizes exchange programs and educational trips and acts as a contact point for these programs and trips; stages public events; collaborates with related organizations and carries out media work; and raises money for projects in and around the CESCI Centre and for the work of Ekta Parishad.

Visiting India and the CESCI Centre

The CESCI Centre offers you the opportunity to gain fascinating insights into India’s culture and society and to meet interesting people involved with local social projects. We arrange travel programs for groups (including groups of students) and individuals.

CESCI offers simple, clean rooms, (rooms are with attached bathroom) delicious South Indian vegetarian food and is made very special with its extremely committed and helpful staff.
